What kind of format is the report? Narrative? Checklist?
HomeGauge is not a narrative or checklist style report. Be sure to read

Why is your software more than some of the others that are $200 or
even $99?
There are many things to consider when buying software other than price,
such as technical support, upgrades, user community, and more. They
all
add up to what is called the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
The reason our software is more expensive is because we want to be in
business to offer you free support and free minor upgrades when you are
ready. The total home inspector market is small when compared to products
that sell at Best Buy or Circuit City, so of course we are more than $99.

Do I have to use your recommended hardware such as the Tablet PC
?
No. The software will run on any Windows laptop or computer. But we have
field tested these and we have learned the hard way on several that failed to
meet the needs
of doing an onsite inspection. So we highly recommend these for your benefit
to help you
get going fast with the right gear and help ensure your success.
Do I have to be a computer expert to use this software?
No. HomeGauge Inspection Software was designed to be easy to use for
the novice but can at the same time satisfy the power user. You do
not
need knowledge of MS Word or any other database product. It is quick
and easy to pick up the Tablet PC and start printing reports on site
in no
time.
What if I don't want to use some of the questions you have on the
report?
You have the ability to change the wording of the question to whatever
you would like. You can add more questions or delete any question. You
can change anything including the sections, categories, discoveries,
styles and materials, the names of rooms, the number of rooms, ...everything.
Why is the HomeGauge report created in HTML code instead of Microsoft
Word or ".doc " program like most inspection software?
HTML is a code that the internet or web can read. Unlike Word, HTML
is ready to view as soon as you upload it to the web. Your buyer or
agent
does not have to download a program in order to view the report. This
separates HomeGauge from the rest alone. It is not complicated and does
not require waiting time for your buyers or agents to get their report.
The most used feature of Word is the spell checker and HomeGauge has
one
built in so you lose nothing.
Can I email my reports instead up uploading them?

Is this software approved or certified by NAHI or ASHI?
NAHI and ASHI do NOT approve or certify any reporting system or report
software. (Although some software companies market claims that sound like
it). NAHI and ASHI have "Standards of Practice" that a home inspector must
follow and our software and the included report template allows the home inspector
to meet or exceeds those standards.
