Bilingual Home Inspection Report (English/Spanish)

HomeGauge now offers a bi-lingual Spanish template for non-spanish speaking inspectors! While there is no substitution for the ability to speak Spanish, you still can offer a better report for the Spanish speaking community. Be a Spanish friendly inspector and add this template and service to your business.

Here's the difference:

  1. Sections are in Spanish and English
  2. Inspection items are in Spanish and English
  3. Styles and Materials are in Spanish and English
  4. Ratings or Column headers (Inspected, Repair/Replace) are in Spanish and English
  5. Report Intro (Comment key and definitions) are in Spanish and English.
  6. Many comments in the library are in Spanish and English

What are the benefits to the Spanish speaking customer?
They will be able to recognize at the reading of the report those items that you rated as Repair/Replace. They will be able to know which item or component that you are talking about and the general condition. They will be able to know all the items or components that were in good condition as well.

What are your marketing benefits as an inspector who offers a bi-lingual report?

Announce to agents in your area that you now offer a bi-lingual inspection report!

Some ad line suggestions for marketing agents or for your website:

  1. Attention agents! (inspector name) of HomeBuyer's inspection now offers inspections in Spanish!
  2. Attention agents! Habla Espanol? No? Me either, but my inspection report does!
  3. Agents can now offer Spanish speaking customers an inspection report in Spanish!

........ Now when you use my inspection company you can offer your Spanish speaking customers a bi-lingual inspection report!

At the time of inspection our Spanish speaking customers will know:
What items were inspected and the general condition of the items and components in their home.

Call us the next time you want a Spanish friendly inspector!

While I do not understand the Spanish language, the inspection items and components are in Spanish. The condition of these items are in Spanish. Some general comments in the report may well be in Spanish, but it is likely that comments will be in English requiring them to have a translator for detailed specifics.

Optional services by the author of this template: All questions regarding the below options should be directed to Mark Harmon's email: markedwardharmon@hotmail.com

About Mark:

Mark worked for the airlines before becoming a full time inspector. He was required to test for Spanish. Here are his notes to HG: The first document was the test I took when I transferred from Pan Am to Delta and received a score of 95. (95 and above meant that you were career exempt and never had to take the test again). They changed the procedures later and then required even native speakers to re-qualify with a test administered by Alta Language Services out of Atlanta. The highest score since then has been what is referred to as "ten years", which means you will not have to re-qualify or take the test again for ten years. I'm not doing this to boast, I just want you to be comfortable with my knowledge of the Spanish language.

Once you set up the Spanish template, there will probably be some people, occasionally, that will suggest that some of the technical terms should have used different words. All of the terms that I use are correct for some regions, but one of the challenges with Spanish is that there are so many countries where it is spoken. For example, I know of four different ways to say "flight attendant", depending on who you are talking to and what country you are in. And frequently, the people from one region will declare that their term is the best. So I wanted to give you a heads up on that. As the software gets used, and we see that a certain word is being recognized more than others for "flashing", then we can easily change that to the more frequently used word. (That is another case where I know of about four different translations).

The good news is that whichever word is used, it is generally understood by all, whether they agree as to it being the best word to use will vary from user to user and country to country.

One more thing. I get a subscription to Reader's Digest in Spanish and read it from cover to cover every month. It's my way up staying up to date with Spanish.

Note to inspectors: HomeGauge does not know the Spanish language either. We are going in good faith on Mark Harmon's ability to translate. For the couple of years to date he has used HomeGauge and HG services, I have never heard anything negative about him or his ability to translate to Spanish. I have met him personally and he appears to be very professional and qualified.

Email Mark Harmon for custom translations of your comments, contract or web page advertising.

It does not translate your new comments, but provides bilingual version of commonly used pre-written comments. Aug 18, 2009 10:31 AM

Looks great I wish that I had this sooner. I would not have had to translate all those reports. Does this also translate your comments? Aug 16, 2009 9:50 PM
