HomeGauge Pocket PC!

HomeGauge is currently testing the Pocket PC (PPC) beta 1 version and the official release is expected in August. This is our version 1 release, and so far beta testing with it provides a faster solution to home inspections, with some significant cost savings when replacing hardware. Many inspectors prefer the Tablet PC over the laptop. The cost for a tablet, however, is expensive and can run $2000 or more. With the Pocket PC ($250 for a Dell Axim, available at dell.com) and a cheap laptop, many inspectors can get the mobilty and speed for under a thousand dollars, which is a lot less than the cost of a Tablet PC.

Typically known to computer nerds as a "front-end loader," HomeGauge’s PPC is created to compliment the full version and not replace it.The HG PPC will give you mobility to input your inspection items complete with auto-comments from your template. Styles and materials can be completed, as well as itemizing, so there is nothing left out. Leave your laptop in the kitchen and take your PPC through the rooms of the home. Come back to the kitchen when you're through and sync up easily. Add your pictures and you're done! Or, if you do not plan to finish the report on site, and you normally take your work home to complete, you can just take the PPC with you to the inspections that day. When you are finished, come home and use your home computer to sync up to your full version of HG and complete your report at home. I might add that some features are being added that are unique to the PPC version of HomeGauge and our competitors will have to catch up! Once you modify your current method to incorporate the PPC, it can potentially decrease the time it takes to complete a report.
