NEW! Webinar training from HomeGauge!

What is a Webinar? These are online classes. You run a small application on your computer to see the instructor's software, while at the same time being dialed into a phone conference to listen to the presenter. Attendees can also ask questions. Now you can train with us twice a week for free! Save money, time and travel expense by attending our live training on HomeGauge Software and Internet Tools.

HomeGauge upgrades its phone support and training!

As HomeGauge continues to add many inspectors to its family each month, a better support program is needed to ensure HomeGauge can maintain its reputation as having the best support in the industry. To be most efficient, we are going to separate support phone calls from sales calls and offer even more training (see the other two announcements). HomeGauge phone support with toll free lines will continue to be FREE and the best in the software industry.

Starting soon, when calling the HomeGauge toll free number, inspectors who have not purchased the software will be directed to our sales department. HomeGauge inspectors with technical support issues will be directed to our dedicated support staff. If you are in a bind or have a problem with the software, internet, uploading etc., you will still get a live person who will help you, same as always. If you, on the other hand, need to learn basic use of how to modify the report or learn more about the Internet Tools, we invite you to use the following free sources:

  1. Online tours:
These are also available on the CD. These are click and watch demos on modifying the report and uploading.

Are you missing out?

Over 5,000 reports a week are being uploaded to our server. That’s more than 5,000 buyers and agents coming to our site or through the inspector’s website to pick up their reports. Agents love the way they get the report and at the same time the inspector loves that the agent and buyer are coming to his or her site to get it! HomeGauge takes care of the rest. Stop missing out on providing better service while branding your website at the same time. Try our Gold or Platinum free for 30 days!

Attention Platinum users: The Web Builder just got better!

1. The report login (for your customers or agents)

From the "More Options" link under the Site Management menu, you can manage a "Show Report Login Form" on your site - this will control whether or not a login form appears on your website under the menu for your customers. By enabling this, you can direct your customers directly to your website to login and view their reports, increasing your marketing and branding of your Platinum website.

2. Now it’s easier to drop in a sample report on your site

If you have uploaded a report to the HomeGauge website using the Gold Internet Tools, you can make that report public and use it on your Platinum website as an easy-to-see example report. Click on the "More Options" link on your website's menu, follow the instructions in the Sample Report Utility, and you will have a link in your Platinum website's menu that loads that report directly into your website. This will enable your customers to see an example of your work right on your site. This is an easy way to showcase your reports directly online for your customers to see!

3. Web email spell checker upgrade

A new and improved spell checker is included in the Platinum Internet Tools Webmail. You simply click the "Check Spelling" button under the "Compose" window and the body of your email will be processed, one word at a time, checking and replacing misspelled words.

HomeGauge tip of the month... Get paid at the time of the inspection, if not sooner, with your contract agreement signed before you pull up in the driveway!

The next time you schedule an inspection, ask the agent for the buyer's email address. If the agent doesn’t know the email, ask for the phone number. Explain to the agent that you need to send the buyer an email confirmation that will take the buyer to your contract agreement. Many states require the contract to be signed before the inspection begins, so you must have the contract signed before you arrive to discourage a possible “under duress” argument from the buyer, should that buyer seek legal claims against you in the future.

Here’s how...

Step 1: Put your contract agreement on your website or on your HomeGauge Gold Page, if you do not have a website.
Step 2: Click on your contract agreement while online and then copy and paste the URL into an email template letter like the one below.
Step 3: Replace “Dear Buyer” with the real buyer’s name and include the inspection address in the subject line of the email. Replace the sample info with your company info (see bold type).

Dear Home Buyer:

Before we can perform an inspection on your contracted home, you must first read, sign and fax the agreement between you and Russell Buchanan D/B/A HomeBuyers Inspection HBI. Enclosed is a link to our agreement. Simply click on the link or highlight, copy and paste into your Internet browser. If you agree to the terms, sign it and fax it back to us at 828-687-9628. Please note that this agreement must be signed immediately to confirm your scheduled inspection date. We will need this contract faxed back to us within the next 24 hours in order to confirm and reserve your inspection date. We must have a signed agreement with you before driving out to the property. The signature needs to be the contract owner and not an agent or representative.

Payment must be made at the time of the inspection.

I look forward to representing you on the inspection of your future home.

Sincerely,

... Do this and send it out at the time of scheduling the inspection and usually one of two things happen:

  1. The buyer will fax the contract and show up with a check.
  2. The buyer will call and say they will NOT be at the inspection and so can they just mail the check with the contract agreement. Both scenarios you win!

Only seldom did I have a buyer that did not respond to this procedure, so the day before the inspection I re-sent the email and then I called the agent. I explained that I could not attend the inspection tomorrow because I have not received my signed contract. I went on to say that I hate to reschedule and I know it will be an inconvenience to everyone, but unless they fax me the contract I cannot attend. I then say that I have already re-sent the email to them again and if the agent can call them it will help. In most instances I received my fax contract that day.
