More Details On How To Use The HomeGauge Software To Perform Inspections
Select a report template to use. HomeGauge comes with different report templates and this tour can help you select the the right one for you. Please be sure to turn on your speakers for this one.
Add and edit pictures into the report. Adding pictures with arrows pointing at the problem is a snap.
Insert Auto Comments. Quickly add comments that sound like you wrote them for that home instead of coming from a library of comments.
Exclude Sections, Items, and Styles & Materials. Sometimes there might be a whole section or individual item in a report that you want to exclude for just that report.
Duplicate Report Sections or Rooms. If a HomeGauge template has a section for bedroom, bathroom, or something similar then the template will only have one of those sections. With HomeGauge you can duplicate these sections on the fly while inspecting as needed.
Select Different Print Formats and Styles. HomeGauge can print a report in different formats and styles. You select the format and style after you complete the report and are ready to print.
How To Modify HomeGauge And The Report Template For The Way You Inspect
Add report sections and inspection items to the report. You can add and delete new sections or questions/inspection items to the report as needed.
Edit the section headers ( SOP on some templates). On some of the HomeGauge templates there is some text that is printed above every section that is the Standards of Practice (SOP). You can edit this or add what ever you would like.
Modify Auto Comments. As you inspect you will want to add your own auto comments for all of your future reports.
Add Smart Auto Comments. Learn how to add those auto comments that have the *'s which allow you to modify the comments to be very specific for that property.
Modify Column Headers. The column headers in HomeGauge can be changed and also can be configured to send items to the summary automatically or to exclude items from the report.
Use the up and down arrows to arrange the template. The order of all items in the template can be changed to make the most frequently used items at the top for you to find quickly.
Copy and paste questions/inspection items. Questions or inspection items can be copied and pasted from one part of the report to another.
Delete a Section. You can delete a whole section of the report that you will never use.
Save template changes. After making changes to the template you will, of course, want to save them.
Create a new template. You can create a new template and it is easy to use an existing template to get started fast.
Update Custom Pages. Sometimes HomeGauge will create a custom cover, summary or invoice page for you. This shows you the steps on how to get those installed on your computer.
