Inspector Daryl has been building, inspecting and mainting homes in SC since relocating here from St Louis in 1986. What this means to Clients of EyeSpy Home Inspection is this: You're not getting someone who decided that being an inspector sounded like a good business and took a 30 hour course to learn to be a home inspector. Daryls' years of experience in all phases of home building and repair means you're getting an inspector who knows homes inside and out!
While we do work with some RE agents, most of our business comes directly from homeowners and home buyers. We think this is a good thing. While it is our desire to see a home buyer get the home they love, we believe they deserve to know about their new home. Without another part trying to influence what information is shared -- for fear something might 'keep the deal from going thru'. There is no question who our customer is. Our customer is the homeowner or homebuyer. Not an agent, not a contractor,.. only the person who hired us to give them information.
Not only do we give a full report of the condition of the home, but we take the extra step of providing valuable information that our clients frequently tell other about. Things like where the water shut off is, where GFCI outlets reset if not in the same room, maintenance items that they will want to address to keep their home in good order.
In addition to home inspections for homeowners prior to listing their home for sale (great way to have anything repaired that is likely to come up on an inspection done by a prospective buyer!) and home buyers, we provide the following additional inspections:
Phase Inspections - we'll check the work being done on your home AS IT IS BUILT, rather than finding out about problems after it's too late.
Contractor Inspections - If you're not sure what you're looking at, let us check up on your contractor during any work / remodels.
Radon Inspections - We are certified Radon Inspectors, and utilize the most current technology, with the Sun Nucler Continous Radon Monitor. If your home has Radon, it's not a huge expense to correct the ventilation and bring indoor Radon levels to acceptable levels. In York County, SC, we are a Level 2 (out of 3 levels) as established by the EPA. Testing is the only way to know if you are living with dangerous levels of radon in your home.
Maintenance Inspections - This is an important inspection that we reommend to most clients. Here's why: Most people don't check for potential problems with their home. But those 'little things' that would be caught in a maintenance inspection, left unattended to, can become major issues that can be costly to repair. If you aren't on your roof, in your attic and basement/crawlspace, walking around the interior and exterior looking for signs of 'little things' -- chances are you will have things developing. And by the time that little hole on the roof becomes noticeable downstairs in the dining room, chances are - you've got a major repair on your hands. We recommend maintenance inspections every 2 years for most homes.
Water Testing - If you use well water, and have not had your water tested in the past 5 years, do yourself and your family a favor by finding out what you're drinking. Again, the analysis is a small expense that can save big expenses later to your plumbing system and your health. We offer 3 different levels of testing, from a basic screening to a full analysis of your water, covering more than 50 components.

Gauge Attributes
Customers can Gauge service providers on the following 10 attributes. Not all attributes will apply to all service providers.
- Punctuality and Timely Completion: No one likes to wait or have large windows of time where service providers "might" get to them. No one likes the job to drag out because of the service provider's other projects or if it becomes apparent that the SP did not plan well.
- Workmanship: No one likes shoddy work, shortcuts, or tradesmen who take advantage of the customer's lack of awareness of what is good quality work.
- Responsibility: Many home owners do not wear shoes in their home and service providers should wear covers over their shoes when necessary. SP's should not travel into rooms that are not in the work scope. They should not use the toilet without asking. If the SP soils or breaks something, they should try to replace it.
- Professionalism: A Professional does not try to add unnecessary work to the contract. Nor do they try to make themselves look good by demeaning their competition or by discussing religion or politics. Professionals stand behind their price and make the experience pleasant with the customer.
- Cleans Up Daily: Customers like to know that each day when service providers leave the room, it is in a broom swept condition, meaning nothing laying around loose, dangerous, all cords are rolled up, and trash or debris is contained or removed. SP's should clean up at the end of the job.
- Friendly: No one wants to hear service providers' personal problems. The service provider should be pleasant to be around.
- Responsive to a Customer's Call: Call backs should be made in the same day and the service provider should do what was promised.
- Well Organized: Generally speaking, from start to finish, the process went well, any concerns were addressed or corrected, and the repair or project ended well with everyone satisfied.
- Hygiene: The service provider should look clean, smell clean, and wear shoe covers indoors when needed.
- Recommended: Would you recommend this individual or company?
