Important Notice About HG Services
IMPORTANT NOTICE
To better serve you, we have installed an automated system to manage recurring billing. An email notice will be sent when an account becomes late at the beginning of a month, and on the 15th, another automated email notice will be sent warning to bring the account current by the end of the month. If the account is not current by the end of the month, it will be automatically suspended until paid. On the month when your services are due, if your card does not go through:
- A late account will be notified on or about the 3rd of the month by email. This can be for incorrect billing address, expiration, expired card or insufficient funds.
- On the 15th, if we still have not received payment (or correct credit card information) an email will be sent to notify of a pending suspension of the account at the end of the month.
- At the end of the month, if the account is not paid, the system suspends the service until payment is made.
- Website owners should understand the importance of maintaining a constant “on” for search engines to maintain your presence and rank on the Internet.
We will be using email to notify users about their account status, so please make sure we have your correct email address by signing in at HomeGauge.com.
Once signed in, on your left select SETTINGS AND OPTIONS, then UPDATE MY INFO. This is where the HomeGauge “Inspector Search” pulls your information to display at our zip code search results. This will be a good time to update your information for potential customers and agents that come to our website to search for an inspector. HomeGauge will always try to work with its customers with special circumstances -- if you have special circumstances, please call us at 1-877-274-4299.
This automated feature will allow more time for the HomeGauge staff to be available for you on the phone for support and help. This streamlined process will help HomeGauge work more efficiently to better serve you.

If business is slow, then it’s a great time to examine yourself and your business in every area to see how you can notch up in image, professionalism, networking, and strategic planning to grow your business.
Self: Clean and groomed -- wear shoe covers inside the home -- no tobacco on the job -- no political or religious stickers on your vehicle, or discussed during the inspection -- leave a business card or tent card on the seller's kitchen counter -- wear a company logo shirt -- greet the seller before climbing on their roof -- use a towel or cloth under your ladder while in the home -- return blinds or curtains on windows to their original position.
Get more agents using you! Here's how:
Attempt to help all parties by asking the buyer and agent permission to send a copy of the report to the listing agent. This will help the buyer's agent by being able to refer by item numbers anything they wish the seller to address. This will allow you to call up one more agent per inspection, greet them, ask for their email, and explain that the buyer’s agent wants to provide them a copy of the report. Offer to answer any questions the seller or selling agent may have. Once you send them the report using the HomeGauge upload service, the listing agent will be impressed with the delivery method and your awesome report and professionalism. Do this on every inspection and double your interaction with agents!!!

Time to plow the ground? While agents are slow, there is a bright side -- they can be more accessible. They also can be swayed more to you because you are courting them, and perhaps their old favorite inspector is not. How do you gain an edge? Offer to do a listing inspection for free, or at a discount. Would you pay $300 to have that agent’s confidence and business? Your time may be worth $300, but the good news is you don’t have to pay yourself for an opportunity to work with that agent. Your sweat equity can go a long way. Before you think I am suggesting changing your prices to free, keep in mind that the focus is on seller's inspections and a lack of buyer's inspections. If you’re wondering if your competitor is reading this, before you panic, ask yourself how many free or discount inspections can you afford to do? This method will create relationships with agents. If everyone went out and did 5 free listing inspections, complete with personalized service, it could affect a mental change in our industry. Plus, while helping that agent sell the home, you will generate good will while marketing yourself to the agent, up close and personal. If you want new business, call up an agent you want business from. If you have steady business, call up your favorite agents and show them your appreciation. They will know you tried to help them in slow times, and my bet is they will remember you in busy times.
One Scenario: You ask to bring donuts to the next agent meeting and announce that you will be giving away 3 or 5 free seller's inspections (3200 square feet max or something, etc.). Bring a box to collect the cards and do the drawing at the meeting. It is important that you actively schedule the listing with the winning agents. Don’t hand them a certificate and wait for the call. Schedule the inspections with them that same week. Part of your requirement for the free inspection is for the agent to meet you at the property to personally introduce you to the sellers. The sellers can have a huge impact on the agent’s perspective of you and your company, so handle the sellers with special personalized service. Then, you want the agent to meet you again at the seller's house, on the next day or so, to review the inspection together along with the seller. The exposure you will get in front of that agent, and the agent seeing you review your inspection with the sellers, will be worth more than any other form of advertising, dollar for dollar. You can also offer to do a re-inspection for a fee, and present a final report. With the HomeGauge upload service (Gold or Platinum) you can set the report to “Public” and give the link to the agent. If they like, they can place the link to your report on their website (example link shown above).
