Erik and his wife Tracy have been terrific to work with. To begin with we had to arrange for the home inspection to be done while we were out of state. They scheduled the inspection with the seller and kept us informed throughout the scheduling. Once the inspection was completed Erik called us and talked us through everything step by step. Even though we were over 1,500 miles away, because of Erik, we felt like we were right there throughout the process. And the inspection report itself was thorough, professional and fair. Because of the details in the report we were able to reach agreement with the seller on necessary repairs very quickly. And after it all Erik has followed up with us on multiple occasions by phone and email. We really felt involved in the process. Mr. Shilt was very professional and conducted a very thorough inspection of the house. On the scheduled date he arrived early to begin his inspection; however, because the water had been shut off by the water company Mr. Shilt had to adjust his schedule in order to return several days later to complete the survey. If Erik hadn't given me a second home inspection I would have bought into a world of trouble ($$$$). He was through, understandable and noticed many important things about the 1915 home I was in the process of buying that the other licensed inspector I hired previously failed to notice or wouldn't check for me such as roof and foundation). He didn't give me an estimate (of course, not his job) of what it might have cost me to take a $150,000 ganga house of 1,100 sq.ft. to become habitable. But he was fine with the person that was going to do the remodel joining us toward the end of inspection. My builder, known as accurate, honest and very competent, told that it would add double--plus to the sale price to make it habitable-and that wouldn't have even included a small addition. I'm about $450,000 better for my experience with AZ Copper Star. Erik came at short notice as my time frame for inspection had become limited, was very clear explaining to a first time home buyer (me) the results of his inspection. He used a drone to look at the two-story pitched roof and found foundation problems (umm, guess there wasn't any under the middle of the house). Nice fellow as well. My advice: Don't cheap out. Erik Shit's service was more a little more expensive than my previous inspection and worth every penny of it.
